Introduction Netflix going healthy with ‘Hack your health’

Netflix is considered one of the best OTT platforms, aiming to provide versatile content to its viewers. Various documentaries covering exciting topics such as matchmaking with arranged setups, the glamorous lives of Bollywood celebrities’ wives, and the award-winning emotional story of a couple who raised an elephant with love and care have garnered much love from viewers.

Now, Netflix is back with another documentary series directed by Anjali Nayar that not only aims to entertain but also fulfill the important task of educating people about their gut health.

Gut health plays a crucial role in maintaining a healthy life. According to Netflix, approximately 70% of our immune system resides in our gut, and those microscopic organisms communicate with our other organs. Neuroscientist John Cryan states in the documentary, ‘Our gut affects our whole body. The gut really is the second brain.’ Many conditions once thought to be determined solely by genetics may actually be attributable to one’s microbiome.

The series interestingly covers the following points:

  • How does the gut work?
  • How does our microbiome develop?
  • How can we learn about our own microbiome?
  • How can we improve our gut health?

The series also includes interviews with various individuals facing health issues related to gut health in some way or another.

Kimmie, the mom who struggles to lose weight, says, “I would lose a lot, and I would gain a whole lot more.” Diets, weight loss medication, and expensive gym memberships have proven useless.”

Daniell, the doctoral student with chronic gut pain, says, “It’s really hard for me to remember what it was like to eat food before it became associated with anxiety and pain and discomfort.”

Kobi, the competitive eater who can’t feel hunger, says, “hear people say they’re hungry, and they look very happy after they’ve eaten; I’m jealous of those people.”

In a new documentary, Hack Your Health: The Secrets of Your Gut, German scientist Giulia Enders partners with colleagues to explain how the gut works — and how to make it work for you.

This documentary presents a valuable opportunity to delve into the stories of different individuals and consider making changes to our lifestyles and eating habits. Educate yourself with this wonderful documentary, which is currently available on Netflix.
