Advertisements and marketing Strategies
Advertisements and marketing are great ways to keep a product in people’s minds. In a world where there is massive competition in every field, it becomes very important to stand out. It’s necessary to not only create a wonderful product but also advertise it uniquely so that the product gets remembered by people. Today, I am going to share unique and crazy things done by brands in advertising to capture attention and leave a lasting impression.
- Lay’s crazy live shoot- Lay’s stood out and adopted a crazy strategy. They took to a football stadium with an audience of almost 75,000 people. The two famous footballers, David Beckham and Thierry Henry took the microphone five minutes before the football match and announced an invitation: to watch the match with them, they invited a person currently holding a packet of Lays. The Lay’s team had special telescopes ready, and they started scanning the stadium to search for a person holding the Lay’s chips packet. This not only caught the attention of a huge audience but also promoted the brand in front of a live audience. The crazy part is that this advertisement was shot live in just 5 minutes with no retakes. Ed Sheeran goes to a fancy restaurant. The innovative ad shows Ed Sheeran at a fancy restaurant surrounded by wonderful dish options. Faced with a plethora of dips, he chooses Heinz ketchup to pour over his food. This sends a strong message that even in fancy restaurants, where mixing and matching can be daunting, Heinz ketchup always works.
- Tata namak desh ka namak: Tata played very smartly by asking the newspaper companies and news channels to remove the letter ‘I’ from all the headlines. This advertisement attempt was made on Iodine Day. The idea of this advertisement was to make the audience realize that iodine is very important for the body, and it is obtained by consuming salt. It is as bad to miss iodine from the body as it is to read the headlines without the word ‘I.’ Although our own Tata Namak is already a well-consumed product, this advertisement and marketing method grabbed many people’s attention.
- Fevicol confused people in the middle of the mall- Fevicol can get very clever when it comes to advertisement and marketing the brand. Once, Fevicol placed 87 items on a shelf in a Mumbai mall. People were told they could pick up any item they wanted for free, with the only condition being that they had to be able to detach the item. People tried and tried but couldn’t detach any of the products. Other people also became curious after watching others expending their energy trying to detach the products. Later, people realized that the products were attached to the shelf with Fevicol. Through this smart hack, Fevicol claimed that it is the strongest glue.
- Mercedes trolled BMW- Mercedes got funny and trolled BMW. In 2019, when the CEO of BMW retired and received wishes from everyone, he was later dropped home in a Mercedes car. However, once he reached home, he took out his BMW car from the garage and started driving. BMW took advantage of this and claimed that, after all, BMW was the first choice, even for the CEO of Mercedes.
