As the name suggests, “Article 370” delves into the removal of Article 370 of the constitution in Kashmir, a long-standing issue in the country. As the Lok Sabha elections approach, many view the film as propaganda, favoring the Modi government. This echoes the pattern observed during the release of “Uri: The Surgical Strike” in 2019. In a recent interview, when asked about the propaganda allegations, Yami Gautam vehemently denied them, urging audiences not to approach the film with preconceived notions.
Uri v/s Article 370
Comparisons between “Uri” and “Article 370” abound, with the latter perceived as an action film. However, disappointingly, it lacks action, save for a few scenes in each half.
Upsides of the film
The film clearly shows the minds behind the whole story of Article 370. It clearly answers the questions such as how did the idea emerge, how was it observed and how did the removal of article come into action.
The film does not consist of any of songs and the absence of songs does not distract from it’s storytelling.
Acting and cinematography
The cast shined and did a mind blowing job. Special appreciation to the lead women who did exceptionally well. Priya Mani gracefuly did her role of a resourceful joint secretary at the PMO and Yami Gautam as Zooni Haksar stole people’s hearts by showcasing her deep love for Kasmir propels. The rest of the cast including Arun Govil, Kiran Karmarkar and Raj Zutshi did a decent job.
Inrahim Baloch wonderfully directed the film. The budget of the movie was not exorbitant high but still managed to do a good job.
