Why One Should Vote?
Voting is a fundamental right as well as a duty of all citizens who are 18 years and above in age. There is no enforcement for any citizen to go and cast a vote, but it clearly shows one’s responsible character if the individual decides not to enjoy the holiday but to take a few moments to voting. Unbiased by the fact whether an individual likes the current government or not, is happy with the current government, or has grudges, one should never miss a chance to do voting. Each and every vote matters.
Small things such as transportation, water, electricity, and basic facilities to large agendas such as financial, social, and economic policies depend upon the running government; therefore, no one can afford to miss their chance to vote. Even if you’re not a fan of any party, it’s still important to vote.
You can choose the NOTA option, which means “None of the Above.” This way, you’re still participating in the process and making your voice heard. Don’t just support any party blindly influenced by your loved ones’ decisions, rather look into their backgrounds, including any criminal records, and find out what good things they’ve done before making your decision. We are blessed to be part of a democratic country that gives its people the chance to choose their government. Make the most of it; be part of the decision-making process.
- Need for Voting Slips– The Delhi Electoral Office has begun distributing voter slips to eligible citizens. The voting slip contains the details of the voters, along with information about the polling location where the vote needs to be cast by the particular citizen. It also includes the polling booth name and the serial number of the candidates on the electoral list.
- What to carry at polling booth– While it is necessary to bring your voting slip to the polling booth, don’t forget to also carry identification proof. This can include your voter ID card or any other valid identification documents such as Aadhar card, PAN card, driving license, passport, or passbook with a photo.
- Do not carry mobile phones– At most polling booths, carrying mobile phones is not allowed. Therefore, make sure to keep your phones safely at home or inside your vehicle.
- Timings to cast vote– Voting hours are from 7 AM to 4 PM on May25, 2024. Please ensure you arrive at your polling station within this timeframe.
- Free Rapido ride– The electoral office has taken an initiative to encourage people to voting in Delhi by providing a free Rapido bike ride from the polling booth back home. This is done to avoid any hindrance for people to vote.
