Mr. & Mrs. Mahi- Is it worth a watch?

The movie is an average piece that revolves around cricket. With so many movies already based on cricket, only a few, such as lagaan, MS Dhoni and Kai Po Che were well received by the audience. Mr. and Mrs. Mahi” is a light-hearted watch with a very basic storyline. Most of the story can be easily predicted from the trailer of the movie. Although some twists and turns were expected, none are to be found. You will watch the movie, feel happy about certain parts, but it will not leave any long-lasting impact afterward.
Plot
A boy named Mahendra Aggarwal, aka Mahi, is very fond of cricket and understands the game well, only to realize later that he is an average player and is not someone who could get selected at the state or national level. With no dreams ahead in his eyes, he is forced to join his father’s business and starts working in the shop selling cricket equipment. Later, he agrees to an arranged marriage setup with Mahima, aka Mahi.
On the first night, he discovers that Mahima is also a cricket enthusiast. He then finds a mission in his life: to fulfill his dreams and gain popularity by convincing his wife to be trained by him. Finally, he trains Mahima. You might think that I have narrated the whole story, but when you watch the trailer, you’ll realize this much is revealed there, and unfortunately, this is all the movie contains.
PROS
- A simple, sweet story with a blend of sports and love life.
- The moral of the story is good: follow your own dreams and passion, find happiness within yourself, and support your life partner.
- The chemistry between the lead pair is great.
- The cast is good, especially Zarina Wahab, who played the mother’s character wonderfully.
- A strong message about women’s empowerment in the field of cricket is portrayed.
- The ending is cute, similar to Virat Kohli’s and Anushka Sharma’s life story.

CONS
- The story is highly predictable. One could sit in the movie hall and predict the next scene accurately.
- There was no curiosity or surprises.
- The songs could have been better. The only good song was “Dekha Tenu Pehli Pehli Baar,” which is a recreation from Karan Johar’s “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.”
- The cricket plot was very similar to other movies.
- The movie is over-stretched.
Overall, the movie is flat. It is something that could be watched on an OTT platform later. In some parts, it feels like a documentary. Only a few life lessons are worth taking away.
