CBSE Updates on 10th & 12th Results

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced board results for class X and class XII on the same day, 14 May 2024, for the session 2023- 24. While 87.98% of the students who appeared in the class 12 board exam have passed, the class 10 pass percentage was 93.6% this year. Last year, the class 12 pass percentage was 87.33%, and for class 10, it was 93.12%. In 2024, CBSE emphasized assessing students with competency-based questions rather than relying solely on short or long answer types.

The percentage of these types of questions was 40%. What are competency-based questions? Competency-based questions in CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) exams are designed to assess students’ understanding and application of specific competencies or skills rather than rote memorization.

Competency-based questions can be case studies, assertion-reasoning, gap-filling, true-false, and long or short questions. For example, in Mathematics, a competency-based question could involve a scenario where a player throws two dice in a game, aiming to calculate the probability of the difference between the numbers on the two dice being 3. To attempt competency-based questions, a student would need to improve their concept comprehension skills and learn to understand the topic and process that information to connect it with real-life situations. Are these marks going to matter in life? Board exam results create a huge amount of excitement and hype in our country.

These CBSE exams are considered very important, and students are expected to prepare well. However, it is also necessary to support the children and counsel them to deal with the situation, no matter what scenario arises. Relatives, neighbours, coaching institutions, and everyone will call to inquire about the results, but it’s absolutely okay.

For students, the looming question often revolves around the significance of these marks. The truth is that their impact varies based on individual aspirations and career paths. While high scores may open doors in certain professions, they don’t define one’s worth or potential. Whether pursuing a traditional career or forging a unique path, skills and dedication ultimately shape success. Throughout the year, students pour their hearts into their studies, leaving no stone unturned. Their efforts are commendable, regardless of the numerical outcome. As results day approaches, excitement builds not just for the marks achieved but for the possibilities that lie ahead.

It’s a time to celebrate achievements, embrace opportunities, and embark on a journey filled with promise and potential. Message by Prime Minister Narendra Modi: “Dear #ExamWarriors, Congratulations to all of you who have successfully passed the CBSE Class XII exams! I am immensely proud of your accomplishments and your relentless dedication. I also acknowledge the efforts of your supportive families and dedicated educators, whose unwavering support has been crucial to this success. All the best for the endeavours ahead.”
